Free & Reduced Meals -We welcome all families to apply for free or reduced lunch rates at any time before or during the school year. Application forms for free and reduced meals are mailed prior to the start of the school year and are available in your Skyward Family Access/Food Service tab and in the school office at any time during the school year. They are processed within 10 days after all necessary information is received The free and reduced meal application and instructions for completion can be accessed by clicking on the links below. Please read all information carefully before completing the application.
PLEASE COMPLETE ONLY ONE APPLICATION PER FAMILY, LISTING ALL STUDENTS ON THAT APPLICATION. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED A DIRECT CERTIFICATION NOTICE FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR, YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION.
Please make sure to complete all requested information on the application, sign it, and return it to the school office as soon as possible or complete it in your Skyward Family Access account under the Food Service Tab-Applications. Incomplete applications will take longer to process. You will need to fund the Food Service account until the application has been completed and approved, unless your student(s) was receiving free or reduced lunches at the end of the year last school year, which rolls over for the first 30 days. Parents/Guardians need to reapply for benefits at the beginning of each school year. Please contact the district office if you do not receive a determination letter within 2 weeks of submitting your application.

Skyward Family accounts are used by the district food service. Payments can be made online through Skyward Family Access using the link below to sign in. When you make your payment on your family/child's account it will remain on the account until your child(ren) make a purchase. All lunch accounts are family accounts.
Payments -We accept online credit/debit card payments via Skyward Family Access A minimal convenience fee may be applied to this transaction. Payments can be made in the school office. Checks are preferred and can be made payable to: UGES Payments should be in an envelope clearly marked with the child's first and last name and labeled Food Service.
Food Service Auto-Replenish Saves Time and Eliminates Hassle-Pay when it’s most convenient with a computer, mobile device or set up auto-replenish payments through e~Funds payment processing which is linked to the Make a Payment tab in your student's Food Service account. e~Funds even updates Skyward with payments! No need to worry any longer about low meal account balances. You can access payments via Family Access - Food Service - Make a Payment or log into e~Funds and click "Log in" or create your personal account to set up auto-replenish for your student’s food account. If you haven’t previously logged in to Skyward Family Access you will need to enter your login credentials.
Negative Account Balances-Students may be permitted to accumulate a negative food service account balance as determined by the District Administrator. If a student has a significant negative lunch account balance, they may be provided an alternate meal the cost of which shall continue to accrue to their negative lunch account balance, and the student's parent(s) shall be contacted to collect the outstanding charges. The alternate meal will be a low-cost alternative to the regular reimbursable meal and shall meet USDA nutritional standards or the Smart Snacks in Schools Regulations so that it qualifies for reimbursement under the National School Lunch/Breakfast Program.
Local Wellness Policy-As a participant in the National School Lunch (NSL) and School Breakfast Program (SBP), Union Grove Jt. 1 School District is required to make our Local Wellness Policy publicly available and complete an assessment of the Local Wellness Policy every 3 years. Below are links to our Local Wellness Policy as well as our WellSAT assessment (report card) of the policy. Union Grove Jt. 1 School District will continue to evaluate our policies and practices with the input of District stakeholders.

Summer EBT -The Summer Electronic Benefit (EBT) program helps families buy food while school is out during the summer and nutritious school meals may not be available

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation.
