UGES Students Attend Science Immersion Program at UW-Madison

On February 13th, four students from 7th grade traveled to UW- Madison to take part in the Science Immersion program.  Students explored energy usage and production through building a windmill. They tested the sustainability of their windmill by seeing if it could harness enough energy to  turn on a light or lift a bottle of water.   They also learned how electricity makes it from a power plant to our homes, schools, and businesses by a model using Snap Circuits.  UW-Madison researchers shared with the students how they are working to make the electric grid more resilient, efficient, and renewable.

The 7th grade students who were selected for the Science Immersion Program were Brooke K., Olivia P., Sands R., and Jackson F.   Congratulations to each of them! Also a special thank you to Ms. Ketter, 7th/8th grade STEM Teacher, for serving as an advisor to the students during this outstanding experience.
